StoryTime
StoryTime is a community initiative that brings volunteers from the public (children and families) to read stories and play games with the less privileged seniors in Senior Activities Centres. Many of these old folks do not have much family support and being able to spend some time talking, playing and interacting with children means the world to them. The goal of this programme is to increase intergenerational bonding between the young and elderly of Singapore through the love of reading.
StoryTime has been running since 2018 and through the years, the programme has touched the lives of over 830 elderly, 140 children and 150 adults! StoryTime is particularly popular among the homeschooling community in Singapore. Many parents were deeply interested in broadening their children’s experience and interaction with the elderly of Singapore. Many senior activity centres were also very grateful for StoryTime as it brought so much joy and excitement to the lives of the lives of the seniors.

StoryTime is back, but bigger and better this time!
From young babies to the elderly, this month’s StoryTime gathered different generations of Singaporeans together for a good time. Held at Thong Kheng Senior Activity Centre, we came together to play table games, read books, and play our all-time favourite game ‘Price is Right’! This time, we also collaborated with Skylace Language Centre, who helped to lead the elderly in a special Arts and Crafts activity making Lavender spice pouches. We also ended off our day with a delicious lunch thanks to our food sponsor, KG Catering. Once again, special thanks to all our volunteers who shared their energy, enthusiasm, and joy with all the elderly.
We hope you are as excited as we are for more upcoming StoryTime sessions! Check out our page to find out more about what we did and how you can be a part of the next StoryTime!
